Things We Forget When Trouble Comes

"Trouble don't last always". It's funny how we forget this when trouble comes.

In 2 Corinthians. 4:8-16 Paul gives us some insight into his troubles and how he dealt with them. What's unfortunate is that we often forget these things when we are faced with our own troubles.

Here are some other things we forget when trouble comes:
  • "We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed." In other words, things aren't as bad as they appear to be.

  • "We are perplexed, but not driven to despair." Sometimes, the issues of life can be mind boggling. We tend to question things or become confused, BUT GOD reminds us that He is with us always.
Throughout the new testaments, Paul reminds us that though we may think we are at the end of our rope, we are never at the end of our hope.

Jesus, in John 9:1-3 reminds us that all our risks, humiliations, and trials are opportunities for Him to demonstrate his power and presence and to remind us that He is able to do all that we could ever ask or think.

We also forget that our suffering is a light thing, compared to what our Lord and the apostle Paul endured. None of us could handle the suffering and opposition that they endured.

What's more, notice they never gave in and they never gave up when opposition, slander or disappointment threaten to rob them of victory.

We must be like them, and remember that no one can destroy what God has accomplished through us.

It is easy to lose heart and quit. We all have been there at some point. However, rather than quitting when things wear us down, concentrate on the inner strength that comes from the Holy Spirit. See Ephesians 3:16

Paul says, "That is why we never give up". Don't let today's pain, troubles and issues of life cause you to forget these things when trouble comes.
