Ministry Has Changed: Here's what you need to know

In 2009, I began to see things that, at that time, I did not understand. Because I didn't understand what I was seeing, I ignored these things and sat them to the side. Well, in 2011, I had five days to think and meditate on it, while laying in a Houston hospital room.

Here's what you need to understand:

If you are a ministry leader over forty years of age, you need to understand that ministry and every aspect of it's expression has changed. The world of ministry in which you grew up in no longer exists.
Regardless of your ministry background or denomination, whenever culture shifts, you should pay attention, or pay the price.

Here are a few questions that deserve your immediate attention.
  1. Does your ministry operate within systems that are no longer valid?

  2. Does you ministry operate as if we're in the 20th century?

  3. Does it lack imagination and original ideas?

  4. Does tradition (church, religious, denomination or otherwise) dictate how you do or express your ministry?
These are just a few questions every ministry should ask themselves from time to time, and make the necessary changes. Otherwise, ignore these things and you'll become irrelevant.

The good news is you're not alone. A ministry coach or mentor is a great way of helping you develop in key aspects of life and ministry, in concert with the Holy Spirit’s leading.

Things are changing so fast. From technology and media, to politics, and social issues. With everything that it takes to lead and operate a ministry, it is impossible to keep up with it all.

Having a coach or mentor is a great tool for helping you solve problems and reach your goals. It is a fact that most leaders who succeed have a coach, or someone who mentors them.
