Why Quick Easy Wins are So Important

Like anyone else, the one thing ministry leaders have in common is we get discouraged. Our issues vary and I talk about some of them on my blog.

I’ll be the first to admit that a large part of the battle, when it comes to leading in ministry, is overcoming discouragement.

God knows I’ve fought the battle of discouragement many times as a leader, and I fight it now. It’s a battle we’re confronted with from time to time. The good news is there is a way to fight and win this battle.

Let's be honest, sometimes prayer by itself is just not good enough. Sometimes it helps to have some works to come along side of your faith to help you get through.

So how do you overcome the tough seasons both in life and in ministry? How can you overcome the battle of discouragement?

Quick wins are tasks you do well and excel in. When you’re having a tough day and things don't seem to be going well, a quick easy win can turn things around.

When your day is full of more hurdles than breakthroughs, quick easy wins are great for boosting your confidence, increasing your faith, and stimulating ideas.

If you're following me on Instagram you may have seen the before and after pics of an end table in your story or feed. For me, that table represents an easy quick win on a day that just wasn't going well. (here’s the link)

Some examples of quick easy wins include:
  • Baking a cake
  • Cleaning a closet or the garage
  • Mowing the grass
  • Jogging a mile
  • Bathing the dog
Sometimes you just need to win at something. Something small by which you can measure immediate progress or success. Something that helps build confidence, encourages you and gets you ready to go back in the ring.
